He also equalled Rohit Sharma’s record of most centuries in T20Is. Glenn Maxwell hit a 109-metre six during his innings.
In the 12th over of Australia’s innings, Joseph bowled a length ball outside the off stump, Maxwell turned the bat and moved the ball towards deep mid-wicket, where the ball fell to the second floor. Maxwell’s six was 109 metres. West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, Australia got off to a poor start as they lost opener Josh Inglis for four runs in the second over at the score of 14. Skipper Mitchell Marsh returned to the pavilion after scoring 29 runs in the sixth over.
David Warner was the third batsman to be dismissed for 22 runs in the seventh over. The team’s score at that time was 64 runs. After this, Glenn Maxwell took the lead and added 82 runs for the fourth wicket with Marcus Stoinis. Stoinis departs for 16 runs. Maxwell remained unbeaten on 120 off 55 balls with 12 fours and eight sixes. Tim David remained unbeaten on 31 off 14 balls.
Australia scored 241 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Jason Holder took two wickets. Alzarri Joseph and Romario Shepherd scalped one wicket each.
